A Complete Estate Plan is a comprehensive set of documents and strategies to protect you, your property, and your family -- both during your lifetime, and upon death. There are three types of Complete Estate Plans because there are three methods to distribute property from an estate. We will help you to select an appropriate estate plan, and draft the documents to carry out your objectives.
We offer three types of Complete Estate Plans for Non-Taxable Estates:
Each type of plan is customized to meet your needs, and provides a complete estate planning solution for most people. With our help, you will pick the plan the works best for your family and budget. We will draft all of the necessary documents for you, and guide you every step of the way.
Each type of Complete Estate Plan is designed for clients with total assets less than $5,500,000 for a single person, or $11,000,000 for a married couple. These figures are called the "Applicable Exclusion Amount", which is the value of property that is exempt from federal estate taxes. More than 99% of Michigan residents will have an estate that does not pay tax based upon the current Applicable Exclusion Amount. If your estate is worth more than the Applicable Exclusion Amount, then additional planning may be required to avoid estate taxes.
